UTC parking 2020

Attention Students, Faculty, and Staff:

As part of our effort to continually improve parking at UTC, below are some parking updates and policy reminders for the upcoming Spring 2020 semester:

Parking Lot Closures
Due to the continual improvement on campus through renovation and other projects, the following lots will be unavailable during Spring 2020:
Lot 17, Lot 11, and the northern/square portion of Lot 58.

Registered License Plates
Per UTC Parking regulations, all vehicles parked on campus must be registered. Unregistered vehicles will be cited, regardless of any permit being displayed.

You can register your vehicle at any time using these instructions:
1.     CLICK HERE to access the UTC Parking Portal
2.     Login using your UTCID and UTC Password
3.     Click "VEHICLES" at the top of the page
4.     Add/Remove vehicles on your account as needed

Split Lots
There are now two split lots (Reserved spaces and General spaces) on campus: lots 59 and 61. Please note that the reserved spaces are each marked “Reserved”. You must have a reserved permit for those marked spaces, general permits may park in the unmarked spaces.

More General Lots
To meet demand, Parking Services converted several Reserved lots into General lots for Fall 2019 and Spring 2020. This includes lots 51, 63, & 62. This, along with additional spaces gained fromtwo new general parking lots (lots 64 & 65), will help to mitigate the impact of the lost General parking spaces that are unavailable due to construction. A detailed parking map for Spring 2020 can be found HERE

Basketball Home Games
During basketball home games, lots 20, 32, and 33 will be offline. Please be aware of the basketball home game schedule. Parking will send out emails prior to home games as a reminder of this as well.

Reminder: First Week of Class
All parking rules must be followed during the entire semester. On Monday (1/6) and Tuesday (1/7), Parking Services will be issuing warnings for No/Expired Permit in General Lots Only. Vehicles parked without the correct permit will be cited in Reserved Lots beginning Monday (1/6).Vehicles that are parked outside of a designated space (see HERE for definition and FAQ) or in an unsafe manner will be cited regardless of location. Vehicles parked in a disability space without a state-issued disability permit will be cited.

Please allot additional parking time for the first week of the semester. General lots closer to the core of campus tend to fill faster than the outer general lots.

General Lot 45 Engel Stadium Parking Available
Historically, general lot 45 near Engel Stadium does not fill up at any time during the year. This lot also has a shuttle which picks up every 6-8 minutes and takes you to the core of campus. This is usually a much quicker option than circling general lots closer to the core of campus during peak times. Click HERE for information about the campus shuttle.

Community Parking
Many of the non-UTC parking spaces that surround our beautiful campus are privately owned and are subject to their own regulations and enforcement. Examples of these non-UTC parking spaces are: Brown Academy, Blood Assurance, Fort Wood subdivision, City street parking, several churches and many other members of the community. We would like to emphasize that UTC parking permits are not valid in non-UTC parking lots or city streets. We would also ask that all students, faculty, and staff please respect these community partners by not parking in their parking spaces without permission.

Late Citations
A citation is considered “Late” 14 calendar days after issuance.
After 14 calendar days, if a citation has not been paid or appealed, it will incur a penalty of 50% of the base fine. This also applies to citations that were denied in the appeals process (late fee will be applied 14 days after appeal denial if left unpaid).

Permit Refunds
Parking permits can be refunded up through the second week of each semester. Refunds will be issued for any unused semester for multi-semester permits. For example, if you purchased a Spring/Summer permit and decide to return it in February, you will be refunded the unused Summer term of that permit. The deadline for prorated refund for Spring permits is January 17, 2020 at 5pm.

We hope Spring 2020 is a great semester for all!
