From TestGen to Moodle assignments and quizzs

Procedure:
In TestGen, export the questions to Moodle format.

In Moodle, first create an appropriate category. Then choose Question Bank, and then import from file, and move these questions into an appropirate category.
To create a quiz, select the questions from the category.

Note: I have not figure out to convert an entire quiz/exam to Moodle.

Moodle, question modifications

It is much easy to duplicate questions in "Question bank"->"Questions".
Just duplicate the questions and modify one of them.

This seems to solve the question modification headache in the new version of Moodle.

Respondus, converting old exams to Moodle exams

Instead of modify the word format, I found it is more convenient to load the WORD file into Respondus directly, and "preview"-> "modify".

Moodle grade report

Facility index

Sometimes the "facility index" does not make sense.

This is the average score on the item, expressed as a percentage:
\displaystyle F_{p}=100{\frac {{\bar {x}}_{p}-x_{p}(min)}{x_{p}(max)-x_{p}(min)}}.
The higher the facility index, the easier the question is (for this cohort of students).

Discrimination index

This is the product moment correlation coefficient between x_{p} and X_{p}, expressed on a percentage scale. That is,
\displaystyle D_{p}=100r(x_{p},X_{p})=100{\frac {C(x_{p},X_{p})}{{\sqrt {V(x_{P})V(X_{p})}}}}.

Moodle, reassign questions to new category

Create new category in "category" tab.

Edit question and resave them as new questions in a different category.

This method can be used to select questions from assignments and generate exams. The questions can be sorted by item analysis.

Moodle grade book, adjust item weight to calculate finale grade

1. Log into your Moodle course page. On the left,  click  a "Grades" icon.

2. In the "Grader report" window, click the "Categories and items" tab.

3. Click the 'full view'.

4. You can adjust the 'Multiplicator' to give weights to each item.

5. You can go back to the 'view' window to check the student grades, and make sure this what you want.

6. Before do this, I suggest you to blind the "course total" from students. Make sure the changes are saved.

Note: The weights are mostly going to change during the course. So, I would do this final grade calculation at least in late part of the semester.
