Notes on Beach 13, a modular network for longevity in chronologically aging yeast

Beach et al, 2013 Cell Biol: Res Ther, 2:1. A modular network regulates longevity in chronologically aging yeast.

The Titorenko group found that ATP levels are similar between non-CR and CR yeast.

The proposed longevity module includes:
Trehalose and glycogen metabolism.
Glyccolysis, glucose fermentation to ethanol, gluconeogenesis.
Lipid metabolism in the ER, lipid bodies, and peroxisomes.
Interorganellar metabolic flow
ROS homeostasis
Oxidation-reductation reactions in mitochondria
Protection of mitochondrial DNA from damage
Maintenance of the mitochondrial network.
