Component lifespan versus network lifespan, implication on life-history evolution.

For thousands of independent components, network survivor function is the product of all the component survivor function. Which means that system lifespan is the minimal lifespan of the component lifespan. This indicates that a significant amount of cost need to be invested to keep system functional. In comparison, if components can be replaced (renewals and repairs), the cost is probably much economic from the cell's perspective.

One solution is the redundancy building into the networks.
